Estimation of Risk Groups with respect to the Spinal Motion Segment (SMS) Disorder by use of Numerical Simulation
BASIC CONCEPTS
The goal is to have a software which provides determination of group with respect to the SMS disorder. The software will be used by physicians and medical doctors, and it will be user friendly. Few parameters will be necessary for the input, such as weight, height, load to be lifted. The software environment will be on Internet global net or Intranet with rehabilitation clinics.
The analysis built within the software is based on the state-of-the art high performance numerical simulation by finite element method. The results of the analysis available to the physicians will be 3-D representation of the SMS deformation, intradiscal pressure, nucleus fluid lost. The solution obtained by the simulation will be graphically compared with the critical values causing damage of the SMS.
Based on the results of the analysis, the physician will have the degree of risk with respect to the SMS disorder, also provided by the software.
