MyPhoneSafe register is a useful tool helping you to protect your mobile phone from being stolen and sold and to spot the origin of a phone by its unique identification number (called IMEI).
If your phone is stolen you just mark it as stolen so it will immediately become blacklisted.
Anybody in the world can easily verify here whether a phone has been reported stolen. This is particularly important for a potential purchaser. Registering your own phone in the myPhoneSafe database increases its chance to be found.

Be careful of your phone!
An estimated 200,000 mobile telephones were left in taxis around the world during the last six months.
People get more upset over lost phones than over parking tickets, trip to a dentist or in my case a massive hangover. Almost half (43 %) of mobile phone owners have lost, damaged or had their phone stolen at some point. Three-fourths (72 %) of them never got their phone back and 49 % were able to replace less than half of the stored contact numbers.
More than a fifth (21 %) of respondents said that the worst part of misplacing a mobile phone is knowing that some contact numbers will never be recovered. When asked how losing a phone would affect them, 17 % thought it was worse than losing a wallet or keys.
Polls show that 10 % of those who have lost or damaged a phone did so while on vacation, usually in a bar, restaurant or while engaged in a sporting or adventure activity. Millions of mobile phones are left in airplanes, airports, rental cars and hotel rooms each year, particularly over the vacation period.
How to fight the mobile theft or loss then?
Always register any new phone to myPhoneSafe.
Keep the status of your phone updated, especially when you sell or give it to someone.
Think of your phone as you would of your wallet or purse, as a valuable item.
Keep your phone with you at all times when you are out and never leave your phone unattended in public.
Never leave your phone visible in an unattended vehicle. Lock it in the glove box or boot and make sure you lock the car. When you are out be aware of your immediate surroundings and don't use your phone in crowded areas or where you might feel unsafe. You may prefer to use a hands-free headset so that you can keep your phone out of sight.
Don't top up your phone with credit in public as it will highlight to a thief that there is fresh credit on the phone account.
If driving, keep car doors locked when in slow moving traffic. In summer, be mindful of open windows in your car.
