Workbench Module Functions

BioUML workbench provides following standard functions for modules management:

export module

import module 
 


Creating new module

To create new module:

  1. Select File > New module. This opens 'New Module' dialog.


     
  2. Specify your module name. Do not use '/' character in the module name.
  3. Select module type from the combo box. The brief module type will be shown at module type description text area.
  4. Press Ok button. New item corresponding to the module will appear in the repository tree in modules category.


Deleting a module

To delete the module:

  1. Select the module item in repository tree. Click button in pop-up menu.
  2. This opens the dialog where you should confirm that you really want to delete the module. Press Yes button and the module will be removed.

Warning: this in unrecoverable operation, deleted module can not be restored.


Module export

To export module from BioUML workbench as an archive file:

  1. Select File > Export module. This opens 'Export Module dialog'.


     
  2. Select module to be exported form the Select module combo box.
  3. Specify the module name. This name will be used during module import as module name in repository tree. You can add version suffix to module name if you plan to use different module versions.
  4. Specify the module version (optional).
  5. Provide some module description (optional).
  6. Press Ok button. This shows 'Exporting' dialog where the progress of export process will be shown.



     
  7. Press Ok button when module export process will be completed.


Module import

To import module into BioUML workbench from the outside:

  1. Select File > Import module.
  2. Specify module file name in 'Open ' dialog and press Open button.
    Module files should have '.bmd' suffix, for instance 'examples v07.bmd'.
  3. If  there is no installed module with the same name then 'Module Info' dialog with information about module name will be shown.
    Press
    Continue button to continue the module import.


     
     
  4. If the module with the same name already exists then 'Replace Module' dialog will be shown. The dialog will provide brief information about current and new (imported) versions of the module. Press Yes button to replace the module by new instance or Cancel to terminate the import process.



     
  5. 'Importing' dialog will be displayed to show the progress of module import.



     
  6. Press Ok button when module import process will be completed.
